30 weeks pregnant: Fast facts

Your baby is about the size of a large cabbage: nearly 16 inches long and almost 3 lbs.

1 1/2 pints of amniotic fluid cushion your baby, but that will change as your growing baby occupies more space in your uterus.

Your baby needs lots of calcium to build healthy bones and teeth, so be sure to get plenty. Milk and other dairy products, calcium-fortified cereal, bread, juice, and soy milk are top sources.

Many women feel irregular, infrequent, and painless Braxton Hicks contractions in the second half of pregnancy. Frequent contractions are a sign of preterm labor, so if you have more than four in an hour, call your provider.

Worst baby shower gifts? our site moms say they could do without photo albums, newborn shoes, and presents that are really projects.

Will you use a doula (a trained labor coach) at your birth? More than 15% of our site moms-to-be said yes or maybe.
