14 weeks pregnant: Fast facts
From head to bottom, your baby measures 3 1/2 inches – about the size of a lemon – and weighs 1 1/2 oz.
At this stage, babies can squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck their thumb! Facial muscles get a workout as your baby's tiny features form one expression after another.
Welcome to your 2nd trimester! Heartburn can strike even if you've never had it before. For relief, eat smaller meals, avoid spicy and acidic foods, chew gum after eating, sleep propped up, and ask your provider about medications.
In your 2nd trimester, prenatal visits are generally scheduled every four weeks – unless you have a condition or complication that calls for more frequent checkups.
Are you scheduled for amniocentesis? This optional test can be done at 16 weeks or later to identify birth defects such as Down syndrome.
If you're having twins or multiples, search for "twins" on our site to find resources just for you.
